|Sputnik bounty canceled.||Posted by Troels at 20081227 00:04|
|Due to lack of communication, slow development and broken deadlines I am sorry to inform you that the Sputnik bounty has been canceled.|
I am sorry to inform you that the Sputnik bounty has been canceled.
All money (minus Paypal fee's) will be transferred back to peoples Paypal account as soon as possible (I really hope to make it before I travel to Indonesia 31.12.08).
Like many others I really wanted to see Sputnik on AmigaOS4 and that's why I started the bounty in the first place. On the other hand I do want to be realistic and there's no reason to see the money stuck in a bounty for to long. Without going into details I can say deadlines have been broken and my belief is that a full Sputnik release would be far far out in the future, at current development speed.
I wish Marcin the best of luck with Sputnik in the future.

Marcin was told this could happen.
Ask yourself why development was started only 2-3 months ago when he had an A1 for over a year.

Marcik post this on December, 19:
"I was asked to post an status update here, so.
Work on sputnik version for OS4 has started about 2-3 months ago. It's already compiling and many important parts are working (like network code, font rendering). The biggest current obstacle is hacking MUI 4 part. I hoped to resolve them before christmas, and as it's the last big problem release some first beta but i failed. And i have 2 news. A good one: i know now how i can get tie my code into older MUI. A bad one: it'll be a rather big redesign and with my current free time it will take about 1-2 more months to complete."
So please don't cancel the bounty now, it is not correct to Marcik, to the donors and to the OS4's community itself :-/
