Avcodec.library: Update and improvements

Avcodec.library is an Amiga port of the open source ffmpeg project's libavcodec static library ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg)distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
The actual Amiga port of the avcodec.libray (used for DVplayer) is now quite old (51.52 from 2008) and there are lots of features, corrections and improvements on the original avcodec sourcecode that the Amiga version of avcodec.library doesn�t contain.

Change of bounty requirements for Project: Timberwolf

The Mozilla foundation has plans to release a new 4.x version every two months. With the old requirement description of Project: Timberwolf this would mean a "moving target", which would make it extremely hard if not even impossible for the Frieden brothers to fulfill the requirements. The needed work would just be too much considering their various other duties regarding AmigaOS development.

Also we think that getting one full, clean and stable port of Firefox 4.0, where future work can be based on, is much more important than some quick and dirty port of the latest 4.x version just for the sake of getting the latest 4.x version.

For those reasons we decided to change the version requirements accordingly. Please see the Project: Timberwolf page, section "Version" for the details.

The bounty has been assigned to Álmos Rajnai. Álmos is the author of the JIT 68K emulator in AmigaOS4 (Petunia)and undoubtedly highly qualified for the job.

wxWidgets bounty: wxBase delayed until end of January

Because of lack of time Alexandre has asked to have the deadline for wxBase pushed until end of January.
Alexandre still encounters some problems with the wxBase port and probably won't have time to fix the remaining errors during December.

Finally the port of one of the most wanted software for AmigaOS 4.1 has been tackled! The well known AmigaOS developers Hans-Joerg Frieden and Thomas Frieden work already since quite some time on a fully AmigaOS native port of Mozillas' Firefox webbrowser!

Because of the unrealistic terms and conditions of the AmiZilla bounty, it was decided to start a new bounty only for AmigaOS 4.1 and beyond. Thus this bounty is in no way related to AmiZilla.

On AmigaOS4 and the new hardware many old games and applications can only be ran via E-UAE.

Unfortunately the file based configuration of E-UAE is in no way userfriendly nor easy, which prevents a lot users from using it.
Thus this bounty shall result in an easy-to-use GUI for E-UAE on AmigaOS4. Very much like the well known GUI of WinUAE.

So anyone who likes playing classic games even on AmigaOS4+ in an easy way please support this bounty with a small donation!

JIT enabled E-UAE for AmigaOS4.1

E-UAE on AmigaOS4.1 (and MorphOS) supports only interpretive emulation and is quite slow compared to f.ex. winUAE.
What we really need is JIT 68K code emulation to speed things up. Especially AmigaOS4.1 users with slower machines would gain a lot from a JIT version of E-UAE.
The JIT will automatically become open source and other PPC OS, be able to benefit from it.

WxWidgets bounty opened.

Bounty to get WxWidgets ported to AmigaOS4.1 for easier access to cross-platform applications.
Examples of applications using WxWidgets is KiCAD, Audacity and (originally from the Amiga) Audio Evolution 5.

Having WxWidgets available on AmigaOS4.1 will give us easier access to a huge number of applications and it will allow Amiga developers to reach a wider audience if they develop using WxWidgets.

UPDATE: 17.09.2009 - Deadline for wxBase has been pushed to 20.11.2009 as Alexandre updates the port of wxBase 2.8.1 to 2.9.0.

Gnash is a free software player and browser plugin for the Adobe Flash file format. Afxgroup(Andrea Palmatè)has asked us to assign him to the Gnash bounty originally proposed by Samo79. The bounty is for both a standalone player and a NSAPI browser plugin.

As absolute proof that miracles do happen over Christmas, Hitman/Code HQ does what even he thought was impossible and actually releases Allegro for OS4!

I thought it would be a relatively small project but it turned out to be a terribly complex game library and not small at all. Add to that periods of laziness, busyness, drunkeness, being on holiday, an unhealthy Guitar Hero addiction and the fact that my boss actually makes me work 8 hours a day on non Amiga things, and we have a port that takes 18 months instead of 18 weeks.

With the recent announcement that the Sputnik bounty is canceled I feel that it is of great importance we support those browser projects that is actively developed for AmigaOS4. Amigabounty was not created with the intention to focus on existing projects but when we are talking browsers I would like to point you to two (very) active developers that deserves all the praise they can get.

Chris Young is porting the CSS capable browser NetSurf. Visit Unsatisfactory software to read more about NetSurf and download the latest release.

Jörg Strohmayer is porting OWB to AmigaOS4 and it can be downloaded from the OWB website.
OWB is also CSS capable and based on the well known Webkit rendering engine used by companies such as Nokia, Google and apple.

Both browsers are looking really promising and I hope every AmigaOS4 user remember to thank those doing something for the platform. I am also sure that a donation is more than welcome, take a look at the respective websites to find the donate buttons, or at least keep them in mind for when you get money from the Sputnik bounty returned.
